You've Got Mail
Invites were dropped off at the Post Office yesterday, which means you'll be getting some exciting mail very soon! Can't wait to see everyone - 2 months from Monday!
Well, Since You’re Already Here…
We’re excited to hear that many of you are using this wedding as an excuse to spend some time in this lovely City we call home. We’ll be tied up with some last minute details, but here are few things we recommend checking out while you’re in town.
Walking
New York is a great walking city – anywhere you go there are new things to see, and places to get lost. Here are some our favorite destinations:
The Highline
Brooklyn Bridge
Hudson River
Drinking
So you’ve walked all over city, but where are headed? If you’re like us, 90% of the time you looking for some place to grab a drink. And since about 95% of our guests are of legal age, we’d like suggest some of our favorite places to enjoy summer cocktail
The Frying Pan
La Bottega
The Standard Beer Garden
Spitzer’s Corner
Shopping
For the best shopping, go off the beaten path. We understand that Madison Avenue and Fifth Avenue may draw your initial focus, but take a stroll down Elizabeth Street in Soho, Orchard Street on the Lower East Side, and Bleecker Street through the West Village for some alternate destinations.
Bleecker Street
Elizabeth Street
Orchard Street
Cultur-ing
Sooo, yeah, there are a million and one museums, parks, and theaters to see while you’re here. Some tips:
If you go to the Met, remember it’s pay as you wish - prices are mere suggestion. Also, the roof garden overlooking Central Park is a MUST!
If you see show, maybe go for something unique like Shakespeare in the Park
If you want to sink your teeth into an amazing burger, visit Shake Shack in Madison Square Park
Oh man, there are at least 500,000 other places I’d like to suggest, but think this will have to do.

Getting to New York: Flights
Some questions have come up regarding travel to New York, specifically flights. Here’s some solid info to help you when making your itinerary.
New York has 3 major airports. Kennedy (JFK), LaGuardia (LGA), and Newark (EWR). The difference? It's debatable, but it really shouldn't impact your plans. When searching for flights, unless you happen to have a preference, use airport code NYC and it will return results for all 3 noted above.
The real difference is transportation to Manhattan from the airports. I’ve listed average cab rates below.
LGA to Manhattan – about $30
JFK to Manhattan – $45 flat rate
EWR to Manhattan – up to $75
All rates are subject to tolls on the bridges or tunnels, and of course don't forget to tip your driver for getting you to the hotel safely.
Flying into JFK offers you the option of a convenient train to the city. Hop on the AirTrain to take you from the airport terminals to the Jamaica Station hub along the Long Island Rail Road. Buy a one way ticket from Jamaica to Penn Station and take a short cab ride to the hotel from there.
The AirTrain is $5, paid upon arrival at Jamaica Station. The LIRR will cost you $5.75 - $8 depending on whether you board during Peak or Off-Peak hours.
You can also take the LIRR from Newark to Penn Station, however (full disclosure) I’ve never done it, but I hear it’s just as easy. Some links below to help.

Our Wedding Blog: Welcome
Welcome to the STEVEO + DAN Wedding Blog! We’re excited that you’ll be sharing in our special day on June 12, 2010, and we want to make sure all of your questions are answered for all things related to travel to New York, transportation around town, and all details pertaining to the “big day”.
First things first, we imagine many of you will want to begin reserving your hotel rooms – something we definitely recommend. You’ve probably already noticed the links on the right hand navigation. Take a looksie at the two options where we’ve been able to secure special group rates for anyone mentioning the Strassburger-Viksjo wedding party.
Both options are actually the exact same rate - we’ll be staying at the Soho Grand and encourage you to stay there as well! We’re planning to host Welcome Drinks at the Soho Grand on Friday night for all to gather.
The Soho Grand Hotel is all King Size bedrooms, so for those who require multiple beds for Kids, Room Shares, or you just like to do things Lucy-and-Desi-style, we’ve blocked a second group of rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn Tribeca – conveniently located just one block away.
